taking a break

from blogging! Will return in a few more weeks. Thanks everyone for your comments and likes! I really appreciate all your positive feedback! Cheers and bye for now.

these summer days

The month of July is in full swing and we are enjoying these long summer days. After a spring tour of Stockholm followed by three weeks in the South Pacific, we are finding a deeper appreciation for what we have at home. This past week, we drove to Brentwood to pick (no spray) fruit at The Farmer’s Daughter. We picked peaches (40 lbs!) and its been one big canning party for the last few days!

In the summer, forest trails are overflowing with blackberry bushes and we are keeping our eye on a nearby grove. I hope to put up some blackberry jam…also roasted tomatoes and rhubarb jam. Ambitious (yes!), let the preserving begin! My family will be thanking me this winter.

We’ve been spending our afternoons at Tilden Regional Park.  We visited Little Farm where the kids fed the sheep, cows and goats. A great place to go when you don’t live on a farm. Tilden is studded with oak trees, redwood groves, wide open spaces and quiet hidden places.

Wishing you a wonderful week of sweet summer days!

catching my breath

Things have been hectic around here.  Oh yeah, kinda crazy.  For some strange reason, the planets aligned and decided to give me a few moments of quiet time. Serenity, oh yes,  are you familiar with that? Finding myself in a peaceful moment seems a little foreign but believe me, I am embracing it!

Wishing you and yours a beautiful weekend!

one summer day

I was looking through photos of Rowan and came across these taken back in July 2009. I couldn’t get enough of those chubby little legs and how cute he was rocking that cloth diaper. Sean was a newborn, life was chaotic and intense but we got through it.  This month Sean celebrated his third birthday and Rowan will be turning five in a few months.

As a Mama, I know we all feel this way: Time goes by too fast. So here are a few of my favorite pictures of Rowan. My little babe in the woods. True love.
